{"id":5097,"date":"2026-08-04T23:09:41","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T23:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lumeamara.online\/?p=5097"},"modified":"2026-08-04T23:09:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T23:09:47","slug":"esl-commits-2m-to-newark-health-and-wellness-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lumeamara.online\/?p=5097","title":{"rendered":"ESL Commits $2M to Newark Health and Wellness Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<figcaption>Photo: Village of Newark (Facebook)<\/figcaption><p>A planned regional <a href=\"https:\/\/lumeamara.online\/?p=5077\" title=\"Seeking New Solutions for Perinatal Mental Health\">health<\/a> and wellness campus in Newark has received a $2 million naming rights commitment from ESL Federal Credit Union<\/p>\n<p>The facility will be known as the ESL Health and Wellness Campus under a 25-year agreement running through 2052. The project is being developed by the Village of Newark, the Alex Eligh <a href=\"https:\/\/lumeamara.online\/?p=5091\" title=\"How Community Health Centers Expand Access to Care\">Community<\/a> Center and Capstone Real Estate Development as part of a broader revitalization effort intended to benefit residents across Wayne County<\/p>\n<p>The estimated $22 million campus will be constructed between Van Buren and Siegrist streets. Two buildings are currently planned<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lumeamara.online\/?p=5062\" title=\"A baby\u2019s first bond\">first<\/a>, expected to be completed in 2027, will house Lattimore Physical Therapy<\/p>\n<p>A second building, anticipated to open in 2028, will become the new home of the Alex Eligh Community Center. Plans call for the facility to include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A six-lane indoor track and field event space<\/li>\n<li>An indoor turf field for soccer, lacrosse and other sports<\/li>\n<li>Courts for basketball, volleyball and pickleball<\/li>\n<li>Fitness equipment<\/li>\n<li>Multipurpose rooms for senior wellness, youth programs and community events<\/li>\n<li>Dedicated space for school-age child care and after-school programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cFor more than 15 years, ESL has been proud to serve the people of Newark, and the naming of the ESL Health and Wellness Campus reflects our long-term commitment to this community,\u201d ESL President and CEO Tom Rogers said. \u201cWe also see this investment as a support for local economic activity, job creation, and Newark\u2019s future as a vibrant place to live, work, and do business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor said ESL\u2019s sponsorship brings the project \u201ca huge step closer to completion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ESL Health and Wellness Campus will provide a regional, accessible, year-round opportunity for everyone in Newark and beyond,\u201d Taylor said<\/p>\n<p>New York state has committed $3.34 million in Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding to the project.
