The letter, which was entered into the Congressional Record, cited a \u201cmarked deterioration in cognitive functioning\u201d and \u201cseverely impaired judgment and impulse control\u201d as serious concerns<\/p>\n<p>In an interview this week with SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah, Abraham was asked whether his assessment had changed in the three months since the letter was penned<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, if anything it\u2019s worse,\u201d said Abraham, who shared in the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, if an airline pilot had half of the symptoms that the president of the United States has, we would not let him on an airplane, we certainly wouldn\u2019t want to fly with him,\u201d he added. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t make sense, and yet, we have a system which enfolds the president\u2019s health in a shroud of secrecy.\u201d<\/p><figcaption>A Nobel Peace Prize winner and psychiatrist has warned that President Donald Trump is \u2018more dangerous\u2019 now, claiming that his mental health has deteriorated (Getty)<\/figcaption><p>\u201cHenry David Abraham is a Trump Deranged loser engaging in armchair diagnosis for political purposes. He is a disgrace to the medical profession,\u201d White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told The Independent<\/p>\n<p>In the April letter, Abraham and the other physicians clarified they had not personally examined Trump, but said they had \u201cclosely followed his behavior and his statements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the interview, he called for greater transparency about the president\u2019s health, warning that the stakes are extraordinarily high when he commands an arsenal of thousands of nuclear warheads<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a person has sole access to the nuclear armamentaria, it\u2019s crazy, and this is what we\u2019re doing,\u201d he said. \u201cI think we\u2019re in even more danger of Donald Trump using a nuclear weapon in a fit of pique or rage or confusion or poor impulse control than ever before. Questions have been raised about his apparent daytime drowsiness, frequent bruising on his hands and swelling in his ankles<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president has severe daytime somnolence,\u201d CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said in May. \u201cHe falls asleep very often. He\u2019s fallen asleep in the Oval Office on multiple occasions with people talking to him\u2026 And chronic insomnia is a severe illness. It can result in an increase in risk of dementia, a decrease in cognitive effects in older people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House has forcefully rejected such claims, maintaining that the 80-year-old president is fully fit to serve. \u201cPresident Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history,\u201d Ingle said<\/p>\n<p>The White House has attributed Trump\u2019s bruising to frequent handshakes and said chronic venous insufficiency caused his ankle swelling<\/p>\n<p>Trump himself has insisted he is in excellent health, saying after a May physical that \u201ceverything\u201d had \u201cchecked out PERFECTLY.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polling, meanwhile, suggests widespread public skepticism.
