Attacks on Health Carein the occupied Palestinian territory
Using data collected by Insecurity Insight, the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition (SHCC) identified190 incidentsof violence against or obstruction of health care across the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 2025. Health workers were arrested, threatened, or injured; health facilities were damaged, violently raided, or surrounded; and ambulances and emergency medical teams were repeatedly delayed, blocked, or searched amid Israeli military incursions and increasingly restrictive movement and access constraints imposed across the West Bank.
Most incidents were attributed to IDF troops armed with guns. Some incidents also involved the use of explosive weapons, including drone-fired missiles and controlled demolitions, which in several cases killed health workers and damaged nearby health facilities, including a hospital in Jenin
Attacks on health care linked to Israeli settlers, typically armed with guns or rocks, more than doubled in 2025, compared to 2024, rising from around 2% to 9% of total reported attacks. Most Israeli settler attacks targeted ambulances and first responders, including blocking their access to those needing care. In one case, paramedics in Tubas governorate were reported assaulted by Israeli settlers under the protection of the IDF. Settler violence also impacted a health facility when around 17 Israeli settlers attacked and destroyed a clinic in Hebron governorate.

01 August 2026: In Deir al-Balah city and governorate, medicine stores at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital were directly bombed by Israeli forces, destroying two of the hospital’s four medicine stores and severely damaging the remaining two. As reported on 04 August 2026: Across the Gaza Strip, the dental care sector was nearing total collapse, with approximately 84% of health facilities reported to have been damaged or destroyed by Israeli forces since the start of the conflict. 24 July 2026: In Nablus city and governorate, Nablus Specialised Hospital was besieged and stormed by Israeli forces, who raided the emergency department and carried out a field investigation and search operation inside the facility. During the operation, an unspecified number of health workers were assaulted, doctors and nurses were handcuffed, and armed personnel deployed throughout the hospital corridors. As reported on 26 July 2026: At Deir Sharaf checkpoint, west of Nablus city, Nablus governorate, ambulances were forced to conduct patient transfers between two separate ambulances due to restrictions imposed by Israeli forces. Patients were required to dismount from one ambulance and board another to continue their journey between Nablus and Qalqilya, delaying and complicating access to medical treatment. 26 July 2026: At Awarta Checkpoint, southeast of Nablus city, Nablus governorate, an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman in critical condition to hospitals in Nablus was detained by Israeli forces, delaying her access to emergency medical care. During the delay, the woman’s condition deteriorated and she began bleeding, resulting in the death of her un-born baby, while the mother survived. 26 July 2026: In Nablus city and governorate, ambulances were prevented from reaching hospitals due to Israeli-imposed closures, forcing two Palestinian women to give birth inside ambulances after being unable to access maternity care.
