Montgomery County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Sexual Health and Wellness Program, in collaboration with Montgomery County Recreation, will host the “Fall Into Wellness Health & Wellness Fair” from 1–6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the White Oak Community Recreation Center in White Oak. The free fair will connect residents of all ages with local health providers, community organizations, and wellness resources.
The fair will offer:
- Free or low-cost health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and body mass index (BMI) screening.
- HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings.
- Nutrition and fitness education and resources.
- Youth services and sports information.
- Health insurance and in-home care supports.
- Mental health resources and support.
- Information about disease prevention and healthy living.
- Opportunities to connect with local health providers and community organizations.
“Events like this are a good way to make sure people have access to information and services that can help them stay healthy,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “You don’t always know where to go for a screening or who can answer your questions about nutrition, exercise, or mental health. Bringing these resources together in one place makes it easier for residents to get the information they need and take care of themselves and their families.”
The event also will feature interactive wellness activities, educational demonstrations, and family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to participate in screenings and activities. Attendees who plan to stay for the full event are encouraged to bring water and snacks
The White Oak Community Recreation Center is located at 1700 April Lane in White Oak. Free parking will be available at the facility
The event will include participation from local health and community partners, including the Health Betterment Initiative of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia
