Samaritan Health and Wellness founder, Executive Director and Family Nurse Practitioner Susan K. Hook, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, came out to the Pine Island Big Fin Shark Tournament on Aug. 1, to support anglers by doing her best to supply them with items to fight the raging heat, such as hats, sunscreen and cooling towels
“We packed 125 bags of free stuff for all the fishermen out at the shark tournament,” Hook said
According to Hook, a grant was offered to Samaritan Health and Wellness to help folks battle the heat, which allowed the organization to give these things away free of charge. This event seemed like a wonderful place to share this, she said
Hook, along with her husband, former Pine Island Elementary School principal Steve Hook, were present and available, as they are avid supporters of other events on Pine Island, such as the Bobby Holloway Junior Memorial Corporation, the annual Bobby Holloway Fishing Tournament, and various fundraisers held for Pine Island Elementary School
“We have several bags ready to give away,” Hook said, while gathering items as the event was just ready to begin
Hook also has an additional Samaritan Health and Wellness satellite office on Pine Island at First Baptist Church, at 5363 Avenue D in Bokeelia, where she sees uninsured and under-insured patients every other Wednesday. To make an appointment, call (239) 360-7520
