‘National Pregnancy in Diabetes’ analysis reports promising outcomes for CamAPS FX in pregnancy care

CamDiab Ltd welcomes findings from the 2025 NDIP: National Pregnancy in Diabetes hybrid closed-loop analysis, which provides encouraging real-world evidence for the use of pregnancy-specific hybrid closed-loop therapy in women with type 1 diabetes during pregnancy

In the analysis, CamAPS FX is defined as pregnancy-specific hybrid closed-loop therapy. The findings show favourable glycaemic and birth outcomes for CamAPS FX compared with other hybrid closed-loop systems and other insulin therapy approaches

Among those using CamAPS FX, median late-pregnancy HbA1c was 42 mmol/mol, compared with 46 mmol/mol for both other hybrid closed-loop systems and other insulin therapies

More than half of CamAPS FX users had a late-pregnancy HbA1c below 43 mmol/mol, compared with 36 per cent for other hybrid closed-loop users and 37 per cent for users of other insulin therapies

The analysis also reported benefits in newborn health outcomes. Preterm births were lower 31 per cent in the CamAPS FX group, compared with 44 per cent for other hybrid closed-loop users and 41 per cent for users of other insulin therapies

Large for gestational age babies were also lower 37 per cent in the CamAPS FX group, compared with 54 per cent for other hybrid closed-loop users and 47 per cent for users of other insulin therapies

Hybrid closed-loop technology was widely used or offered during pregnancy care. Use of pregnancy-specific hybrid closed-loop therapy increased during pregnancy, rising from 25.7 per cent at booking to 62.5 per cent by 28 weeks

“Pregnancy in type 1 diabetes is one of the most demanding areas of diabetes care. These real-world findings are encouraging and add to the growing evidence base for pregnancy-specific hybrid closed-loop therapy,” said Roman Hovorka, Managing Director of CamDiab. “CamAPS FX was designed to support glucose management during pregnancy, and we are pleased to see national audit data reflecting its role in clinical practice.”

Helen Murphy, Professor of Medicine at University of East Anglia, said: ‘It’s one thing to show promising results in research studies, but to demonstrate nationwide benefits for mothers and babies across all NHS maternity clinics is incredible

“These are the best maternal glucose and neonatal outcomes ever recorded nationally. It’s great to have such positive news for pregnant women with type 1 diabetes, at a time when maternity services are facing unprecedented pressures.”

CamDiab notes that the analysis is observational and cannot establish cause and effect. The findings should be interpreted alongside clinical trial evidence, post-market surveillance, risk management data and specialist clinical judgement
